Welcome to this five-part Substack series (plus an addendum/preview, an abstract of recent supporting proofs, introduction and conclusion) exploring the 'big picture' of AI alignment. Building on my previous thesis in 'Monkey Businesses,' we dive into a pressing question: If AI is hurtling toward superintelligence, how do we align it with universal human values—especially when 'human value' feels so relative and abstract today?
Here, we argue that true alignment requires a deeper grasp of what makes us human: Not just code or computation, but a transcendent foundation that resolves ethical voids and counters the hubris of worshipping technology as 'creation.' Drawing on neuroscience mysteries (like dream agency and DMT realms), AI thinkers' shift to animism, historical deceptions (e.g., Alice Bailey's 2025 predictions), and biblical revelation as an improbably coherent 'cheat sheet' (Bayesian odds ~1 in 10^12 against chance), this series challenges relativism and calls for clarity in the alignment debate.

If you're grappling with AI's future—like whether it's 'out-evolving' us (Connor Leahy) or simulating spirits (Yoscha Bach)—this is for you. Let's demand better than vague ethics.
Before we dive in (if I may be so bold), a quick personal note: My explorations into these ideas—self-directed and unfunded to date—stem from a deep conviction that understanding 'human value' in the AI age requires confronting our shared search for meaning.
I've offered no easy 'product' or actionable fixes, as the truths here challenge us all to rethink reality itself. Yet, this work has come at a cost: My family faces serious challenges, and my unmarketable 'persona' in today's environment leaves me seeking support from like-minded thinkers.
The world feels dizzying—market turmoil, wars, fear—but amid it, sentiment turns against God and His people, as seen in Gaza's tragedy, where evil seems to manifest unchecked. Denial won't suffice; we need coherence, starting with 'human value' as soul-deep, not relative.

May God bless us with grace and wisdom. We need Him now—not to fuel division, but to restore sanity through forgiveness, as Jesus taught: 'Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing' (Luke 23:34). Let's build a safer world together.
The rebellion inherent in materialism finds historical parallels in metaphysical pursuits that blend science, spirituality, and power, often resulting in self-fulfilling prophecies that align with biblical end-times warnings. This section examines the Esalen Institute's role in psi research and its connections to NASA and Russian programs, Alice Bailey's channeled predictions for a 2025-2027 "externalization of the hierarchy" as occult deception, and the Zenodo critique framing these as fulfillment of Revelation's beasts. It incorporates Diana Pasulka's insights on ascetic channeling and Plato's physical preparation, contrasting Valley psychedelics as modern pharmakeia (sorcery). Scriptural counters, such as Deuteronomy 18:10-12 against divination and Revelation 13's beast as channeled hierarchies, reveal these contexts as worship of creation—self-orchestrating chaos through unsaid "ether" (ignored divine warnings), amplifying the thesis's call for transcendent correction.
Esalen Institute, NASA, and Russian Psi Research: Blending Science and Spirituality
The Esalen Institute, founded in 1962 in Big Sur, California, as a center for the human potential movement, exemplifies the historical fusion of metaphysical exploration with scientific inquiry.¹ Esalen hosted workshops on parapsychology (psi), including remote viewing and consciousness expansion, drawing figures from NASA and the intelligence community.² Edgar Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut and NASA veteran, founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) in 1973 after Esalen experiences, aiming to study "noetic" (inner knowing) phenomena funded by government interests.³ Mitchell stated: "The experience up there was so overwhelming... that I had to reconcile it with my scientific training" (Mitchell, 1996), linking space exploration to psi.⁴
Esalen's ties to the Stargate Project—a CIA-funded remote viewing program (1978-1995, declassified 1995)—are indirect but significant: Stargate, run at Stanford Research Institute (SRI), involved Esalen-associated researchers like Russell Targ and Hal Puthoff, who conducted psi experiments.⁵ Targ noted: "We were able to describe a secret Soviet site... using remote viewing" (Targ, 2019), with funding overlapping NASA/CIA interests in countering Russian psi programs.⁶ Declassified documents reveal U.S.-Russia exchanges: During the Cold War, Soviet parapsychology (e.g., telepathy research at Leningrad University) influenced Stargate, with mutual briefings (CIA FOIA, 1995: "Soviet and Czechoslovakian Parapsychology Research," quote: "The Soviets are actively engaged in psi research... potential military applications").⁷ Esalen facilitated informal dialogues, hosting Soviet scientists in the 1980s for "human potential" seminars (Kripal, 2011: "Esalen became a bridge for East-West psi exploration").⁸
This context reveals self-fulfilling dynamics: Psi research, blending materialism (brain as tool) with metaphysics (non-local consciousness), worships creation's "hidden" powers—echoing Deuteronomy 18:10-12: "Let no one be found among you who... practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft... Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord."⁹ Such pursuits, ignoring divine boundaries, self-fulfill chaos, as seen in Stargate's military applications (remote spying as "beast" control).
Alice Bailey's Channeled Predictions and the Zenodo Critique
Alice Bailey's The Externalisation of the Hierarchy (1957), channeled from entity "Djwhal Khul," predicts a 2025 turning point: "This will go on until A.D. 2025. During the years intervening between now and then very great changes will be seen taking place, and at the great General Assembly of the Hierarchy—held as usual every century—in 2025 the date in all probability will be set for the first stage of the externalisation of the Hierarchy."¹⁰ Bailey envisions a spiritual evolution where "Masters of Wisdom" reveal themselves, ushering a New World Religion and global order (quote: "The new religion will be one of Invocation and Evocation, of a strenuous tending towards divinity," p. 415).¹¹ This "hierarchy externalization" aligns with New Age mysticism, promising enlightenment but critiqued as deceptive.
The Zenodo (2025) analysis frames it as occult fulfillment of biblical prophecy: "This article delves into the predictions surrounding the 2025 Great General Assembly of the Hierarchy, as articulated by Alice A. Bailey... the potential emergence of a New World Religion."¹² It cautions: "The article cautions readers about the possible deceptive nature of these spiritual agendas and emphasizes the need for discernment among believers," ultimately encouraging focus on "the teachings of Jesus Christ as the true path to understanding salvation and divine truth."¹³ Zenodo views Bailey's 2025-2027 as beast-like deception (Revelation 13:7: "It was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation"), self-fulfilling through channeled "ether"—unsaid divine warnings ignored for global "unity."¹⁴
Pasulka, Plato, and Valley Pharmakeia: Channeling Without Anchor
Diana Pasulka's American Cosmic (2019) links modern channeling to asceticism: "Peak physical health for downloads," where tech elites use diets/exercise (Plato's wrestling in Republic for virtue, quote: "Gymnastics... to train the body for the sake of the soul," Book III) to access non-human insights.¹⁵ Pasulka notes UFO/psi experiences require preparation, echoing Esalen's human potential but risking sorcery. Valley psychedelics amplify this: Burning Man (Musk/Brin hub) as ritualistic "channeling" (Pollan, 2018: "Psychedelics in Silicon Valley foster breakthrough thinking," quote: "Microdosing LSD... to enhance creativity").¹⁶ This "pharmakeia" (Greek for sorcery/drugs) fulfills Revelation 18:23: "By your magic spell all the nations were led astray."¹⁷ Materialism's hubris—seeking wisdom via creation (drugs/code)—ignores Deuteronomy 18:10-12's ban on divination, self-fulfilling deception as hierarchies "externalize."
Scriptural Counters and the Unsung "Ether"
Scripture counters these as creation worship: Revelation 13's beast as channeled hierarchies (quote: "The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority," v. 2), demanding allegiance like Bailey's masters.¹⁸ The "ether"—unsaid warnings—is relativism's blind spot: Ignoring God's coherence for speculative mysticism/literalism. Proverbs 14:12 warns: "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death."¹⁹ Self-fulfilling: Human orchestration (Esalen/Bailey as blueprints) fulfills prophecy, but hubris prevents recognition—chaos correctable by transcendent Truth. This historical-metaphysical nexus transitions to probabilistic analysis: If alignment with prophecy is improbably coherent, it bolsters revelation as anchor.
